Personal development coaching brings opportunities for you to be who you really want to be as a leader, and, to love what you do

Developmental Coaching for Headteachers

As an Executive Coach, my niche has become coaching leaders in education. I have successfully coached hundreds of headteachers and senior leaders. While you have similar titles – Executive Head, Head of School, Deputy or Assistant Head, you all have different strengths and vulnerabilities as individuals. And you all have very different people to lead. I specialise in personal development coaching and the people side of leadership so that you find courage to get you through vulnerability and to achieve success with your people.

Reconnecting with who you really are:

It seems to me that the current education system, with so much emphasis on data and targets, is taking the beauty and creativity out of school leadership.

Personal development coaching with me enables you to rediscover the purpose and the meaning in your role – how and why you make a difference to children’s lives and future society. It enables you to reconnect with who you really are and to love the job you do.

    Questions on the Go

Questions on the Go is a great approach for those times when people want you to solve things for them. Simply ask them the questions until they find the next step through their responses. You can also give everyone a card to use for themselves – ahead of coming to ask you!

  • Coaching: 4 videos

    Coaching: 4 videos

These four videos were made with Genius Films for the ETC Alliance within Wildern National Teaching School. Each one is edited to within 6 minutes. They are a great way to revisit and revise some key aspects of coaching practice.

They offer An Introduction to Coaching which covers personal and professional development coaching and practical coaching i.e. a coaching approach plus videos of the coaching process in action.

  • Towards a Coaching Culture

    Towards a Coaching Culture

Explore the differences between training and coaching; why developing the person who does the job brings success; and why, to achieve potential, it’s important to address what’s getting in the way (‘interference’).

Reflecting on my Headship to date I can honestly say that the personal development work that I have undertaken with Maureen has had the biggest single positive impact on me both personally and professionally. Through the work I have undertaken with Maureen, I have learnt more about myself as a person and as a leader than in my entire (very lengthy) school career. It is this personal knowledge, together with the skills I have developed, that has enabled me to flourish in the good times, dig deep in the challenging times but, most importantly, treat myself with care and self compassion... –Read More–

I love my job but sometimes the myriad of tasks, strategies and people leave you working at a pace that is unsustainable and not strategic. Maureen and People Intelligence offer a wide range of support to ensure that headteachers can continue to love their roles and can lead with compassion, courage and focus. I can not recommend them highly enough. The courses and opportunities they offer give you the space you need to become the best leader you can be!

Headteacher / St Mary's Bentworth CE Primary

Working with Maureen and Simon at People Intelligence has been one of the most essential investments I have undertaken as an education leader. The impact of the collaborations have seen fundamental changes both within my school and in the effectiveness of working with external partners.

Since then I have worked with Maureen in a number of different contexts, including coaching sessions, whole school training days, Inspiring Heads and more recently workshops at the Hampshire headteacher conference and Basingstoke & Deane Resilience Daybook network. Each activity brings with it its own merits, however each and every context fundamentally develops my leadership qualities and above all provides me with the stability and resilience required to be an inspirational headteacher in a time where the tides of education are constantly turning. As a direct impact of working with People Intelligence, Castle Hill Infant School has embedded a coaching culture which has been the foundation for sustaining successful relationships and team work throughout its community. Maureen is an inspiration not only to my role as a primary headteacher but also to me as a person in order to support my well-being. Maureen has taught me the art of self-compassion which in turn has developed my resilience and helped me to sustain dynamic leadership. This sense of nurture together with high expectations has filtered through all teams and has ultimately grown resilient children who have excellent interdependent skills. Working with People Intelligence regularly throughout the past six years has sustained an outstanding school.
